Goku's crying was a flashback to Broly being stabbed as a child, pretty traumatic experience and I think the circle jerk for saying "hud dur crying baby" has removed the ability to actually look at Broly as a character.
WebEven so, Broly is a poorly designed enemy, his backstory and motivations are pretty weak. He is upset because a baby kept him awake as a baby, the lamest source of rage ever.
