He is believed to have been the main editor and reviser of the 1620 edition of the Welsh translation of the Bible and the 1621 edition of the Welsh translation of the Book of Common Prayer. WebMallwyd and Cwm Dugoed are famous for the Red Bandits of Mawddwy, who were known for theft and killing in the middle ages. Tradition has it that 80 of the bandits were caught and hanged by the Baron Lewis Owen of Dolgellau. They were probably refugees from the wars of the period, some living wild, others local noblemen.
