Soil leaching index
WebFor all lysimeters, Ca and Mg leached more rapidly than K. Annual losses over all treatments, 1976 through 1980, averaged 387 kg Ca ha −1, 118 kg Mg ha −1, and 44 kg K ha −1. Such leaching would eventually lead to enrichment of local soils with K relative to Mg and Ca. WebA leaching index or moisture index is calculated by subtracting evapotranspiration from precipitation. This index is an indicator of average soil moisture conditions. The greater the index, the more soil moisture is present. Higher soil moisture increases chemical weathering and moves minerals, such as bases, deeper into the soil profile.
